About 30 years ago I received a first patent, together with my school friend Richard Distl for a new method and instrument to measure the polarization of light. Based on that we went further to develop new real time measurement technologies for the analysis of color spectra of light. Richard took on the responsibility and founded the Instrument Systems GmbH for production of such instruments while I decided to move to India to study and practice Homeopathy for the next 5 years.
However my interest in the nature of light and color did not diminish, so much so, that I took the name “Kiran” which is Sanskrit and means “Ray of Light”.
My first exposure to the philosophy behind light and color came from reading Goethe`s “Theory of Colors” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_Colours, which today is completely misunderstood and science has adopted Newton’s philosophy of light as the only truth. However just like Goethe I always felt that colors are the result of the interaction between the 2 polarities of LIGHT and DARKNESS.
Here is an excerpt of his work and a few comments:
Light and darkness
Unlike his contemporaries, Goethe didn’t see darkness as an absence of light, but rather as polar to and interacting with light; colour resulted from this interaction of light and shadow. For Goethe, light is “the simplest most undivided most homogenous being that we know. Confronting it is the darkness”(Letter to Jacobi).
…they maintained that shade is a part of light. It sounds absurd when I express it; but so it is: for they said that colours, which are shadow and the result of shade, are light itself.
—Johann Eckermann, Conversations of Goethe, entry: January 4, 1824; trans. Wallace Wood
Based on his experiments with turbid media, Goethe characterized colour as arising from the dynamic interplay of darkness and light. Rudolf Steiner, the science editor for the Kurschner edition of Goethe’s works, gave the following analogy:
Modern natural science sees darkness as a complete nothingness. According to this view, the light which streams into a dark space has no resistance from the darkness to overcome. Goethe pictures to himself that light and darkness relate to each other like the north and south pole of a magnet. The darkness can weaken the light in its working power. Conversely, the light can limit the energy of the darkness. In both cases color arises.
—Rudolf Steiner, 1897[19]
The philosophy of Newton, of Einstein and of all of cotemporary science as well as New Age philosophy goes as follows : “Only light (energy) exists”. However Goethe’s and mine and that or many older traditions like the idea of Yin and Yang holds “light is fundamentally connected with darkness”, it is impossible to extract light from non-light, just as male does not exist without female and all other basic polarities as all are fractal (holographic) in nature. This has enormous philosophical consequences and even more importantly practical influences in everybody’s life when we give up “to fight forms of darkness” when we understand that light only comes together with darkness.
What makes this issue even more complex is the fact that the human eyes sees colors which spectroscopes do not detect and senses intensities of colors with in a specifically human way – this made it necessary to establish 2 different measuring systems, the radiometric and photometric measuring systems http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photometry_(optics) and Instrument Systems devices and software http://www.instrumentsystems.com are capable to measure both.
However with the Bioresonance-LaesEr I have set a new milestone for the investigation and use of physiological colors. Through the use of a while LED light that is pulsed by Eigen-frequencies, the unique frequencies of a person, one can experience colors, pattern and visuals that are in no way proportional to the used photon frequencies, which demonstrates that our experience is much more a creation of our brain than that of physical laws.
Richard how has seen probably more forms and colors of light in the last 30 years than anyone else was very much impressed by what he experienced with the Bioresonance LaesEr.
